Basic Hearing & Vision Exams
Vision and hearing screens are routinely done as a part of the well physical at the Kindergarten, 6th grade, and 10th grade physicals. This is mandated by state health requirements at these specific visits.
Neither test is invasive. They are screening tools used to see if there are any deficits in vision or hearing.
Your child will be tested by a qualified medical assistant and the result will be given to the provider you are scheduled to see.
These are considered screening devices. If a discrepancy exists with either the vision or hearing test, the provider will suggest a more comprehensive test by either an eye specialist or audiologist to make sure the proper intervention is implemented.
We strongly encourage these screening tools, as they may alert us to a problem with either sight or hearing.
