Aquifer is a non-profit organization that delivers interactive online courses and resources to health professions students at over 330 programs in North America and beyond. We work closely with medical education leaders and collaborate with their national education organizations to develop and deliver curriculum that meet the needs of health professions students and course directors.
Sandy Narciso-Owen is a member of the Aquifer Consortium and serves as an Associate Editor for our Aquifer Pediatrics course. Aquifer Pediatrics builds clinical competency and addresses educational gaps, fostering the core values and attitudes emphasized within the pediatrics curriculum. The course promotes self-directed and independent study, develops clinical problem-solving skills, and teaches an evidence-based, patient-centered approach to patient care through virtual patient cases that comprehensively teach the COMSEP national curriculum.
As an Associate Editor, Sandy holds the responsibility of thoroughly reviewing a designated subset of virtual cases to guarantee their alignment with the most current clinical information and educational best practices. Furthermore, Sandy collaborates with the editorial board to ensure that instructional content is uniformly delivered across the course and cohesively integrated with other Aquifer courses.
For the academic year, 249 programs subscribed to this course, and 380,689 cases were completed. Sandy Narciso-Owen was appointed as an Aquifer Associate Editor by academic peers, recognizing their national reputation as an innovative educator. They are an integral member of a network of highly engaged and talented educators who volunteer their time to advance health professions education.
